I Had Words for the FCC
Covering op-eds, upcoming streaming titles, and other additional thoughts this week!
I’m gonna make this something of a quick piece going into the weekend.
I published a few op-eds that I felt were very important to run on SATM. Some of them are political and while I’d have probably written them on Buttondown to drive subscriptions, the fact of the matter is that SATM has the wider reach because of being included in Google News.
It’s really sad that I had to write my latest pair of op-eds this week. I’m not just using my voice here as a member of the media, but as an American citizen. But beyond that, I’m not afraid of using my platform if it means speaking out about what’s happening to American democracy. That is, if we still have a democracy.
Op-Eds:
I’ve otherwise been using this week to make a dent in my home entertainment release pile. Review copies have a way of piling up if I don’t get to them in a timely manner. I have The Naked Gun reboot to look forward to watching next week, but other than that, the 9 Days begin with Rosh Chodesh Av this weekend. These are the 9 most serious days of mourning in the Jewish calendar. It’s also Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend.
The National Sports Collector’s Convention is next weekend. I’ll be attending. If all goes well, I’ll meet two Hall of Famers. Three if I’m lucky. It really depends on how things look over the next week.
