How Is It Already December?

The year is going by so fast because it’s already December and awards season is just beginning to kick into full gear.

With Shabbos starting so early on Fridays, I didn’t get to send this out ahead of the weekend. I would have sent it out on Thursday but was busy with watching a three-part documentary and a virtual conversation with Adam Sandler. The rest of the week was even busier with a number of press/FYC screenings ahead of the deadline. If I lived in NYC/LA, there would be more screening opportunities. Elsewhere, they love to screen many contenders during the same week. It’s a lot of film to say the least.

This past week was exhausting and not just because of my film commitments. The antisemitism in this country is reprehensible. It should not take reporters asking a question for a politician to condemn antisemitism and white nationalism. No, this should be something that is done ASAP, no questions asked. That it is not safe in America to be transgender and Jewish is scary AF right now. DHS just released a warning about domestic terrorism threats to LGBTQ, Jewish, and migrant communities. I have a passport and usually, I would be glad to know that Israel is an option but the right-wing extremism is over there, too.
