Goodbye Twitter
I’m gonna make this quick as I made the decision to delete Twitter from my life now that Elon Musk is bringing Donald Trump back.
Solzy at the Movies has an active presence on Facebook, Instagram (DanielleSATM), and now Mastodon. What sucks about everything is the community that Twitter built up. There were some pretty notable people following me on Twitter but not on Instagram. To lose this connection—the private conversations—especially sucks. I’ll be curious to see how Hollywood adapts to what’s going to become the new normal but a number of us are done with Twitter and there’s no going back.
I’m not deleting my account for the time being but I will not actively be checking it. If anyone wants to get ahold of me, they know exactly how to find me. What sucks is how much not using Twitter is going to hurt my bottom line on the ad revenue front—less traffic means less money coming in! Losing the traffic will especially hurt on that end. It’s not as easy to find things on Mastodon as it is on Twitter. Other parts that will suck is how Twitter has been so essential in networking with editors and readers. I’ve made friends with people that I wouldn’t have made without Twitter. What happens now? We’re in uncharted territory.
