First up this week, my Inbox …
"Hope for the Future - Cancelled." That was the subject line of an email message that landed in my inbox yesterday. How could anyone be so gloomy AND want to share the gloom? I laughed out loud and shared the email subject with friends and family. It was a real message. CASA of San Luis Obispo County was canceling its event called "Hope for the Future." I'm hoping that the email-writer recognized the bleak humor of the subject line …
Second up this week, Indoors …
I work from home. I've done so for decades. Just me and the glowing screens of my laptop and mobile phones. Oh, and three dogs (so, I'm not entirely alone all day). Recently, however, I've noticed how dark I keep my current office. It has heavy wood blinds, and the two windows don't bring in that much light anyway. I've been feeling more anxious and moody. These days, when we're avoiding social gatherings, I've had even more reason to be indoors. And I know it's not good for me, for any of us.

Third up this week, Italy …
Italy is going through a tough period, with the country in complete lockdown because of the COVID-19 coronavirus. Last week an Italian business associate, living in the heart of the virus' killing zone, sent out a long email reassuring all that Italians were optimistic and indomitable, and we shouldn't give up on them, or ourselves. Then I saw (and heard) this empty Italian street scene (everyone self-isolating), a video that's gone viral …
