Suddenly, it seems, it has become September
A couple weeks ago, my account on LinkedIn was hacked, and has been subsequently turned into another person entirely. I'm not sure what this gains them, but that's where that stands at the moment. So, please don't use LinkedIn to contact me. (And, more broadly, I think LinkedIn has been a fairly shitty site for a long time, so maybe don't use it at all?) I did assemble the basic about me info that I had had posted there, and have that hosted on my own site: https://www.psproefrock.com/about-architecture/
Speaking of updating information online, along with getting that history re-posted online, I have been working on updating my personal website. There is still a lot of placeholder stuff, and it's going to take time to build it back up to something, but I'm starting to work on that now.
Another thing this gives me a place for is to get back to doing some writing about some of the technology and sustainability things I was writing about when I was a blogger for EcoGeek. I have a few things that I have come across in the past few months that made me think, if I was still writing for EcoGeek, I'd want to write about that. And I've already written one thing in that mode, "A couple hundred words on CO2 storage" here: https://www.psproefrock.com/2024/08/22/a-couple-hundred-words-on-co2-storage/
I'm hoping to do more of that sort of thing, where it's more than just a repost of a thing on social media. Either something that I think I can add some understanding or share my enthusiasm about something interesting I've come across. Some of the other things I have come across are perovskite solar panels, wooden wind turbine towers, and more. I don't know what (if any) schedule any of this will be on; best to assume it will be sporadic. But I'm aiming to make it somewhat regular if I can.
If you are still using RSS, there's a feed available, so you can add that and get updates of new posts there. A chunk what's there is going to be other green tech oriented articles, but hopefully also some architecturally oriented things, and maybe also getting back to some photography and art.
Along with building a website once again, I also brewed a new beer this weekend (for the first time in probably close to 2 years). The airlock started bubbling the next morning, so things are underway and the yeast are doing their thing. This is going to be a new batch of a Grapefruit IPA that I first made a couple years ago. The homebrew supply shop in Ann Arbor that used to be my source for ingredients was acquired/consolidated/ changed a few years ago. They shifted to being all mail-order, and moved to Minnesota, so I thought I had lost any local place to get ingredients. But, while I was making my ingredients list, I remembered that there used to be a little place down in Dundee that Thor and I had gone to for supplies, back in our early days of homebrewing (as in, I hadn't been to that place since last century). But, they have been selling home brewing and home winemaking supplies since 1963, and they are still there.
One of the podcasts that I recently discovered and which I've been listening to recently is called Volts (described as "A newsletter, podcast, & community focused on the technology, politics, and policy of decarbonization"). And, it was an episode of it that spurred my writing about the CO2 storage that I mentioned above.
I’ll leave it to that for now, and get this sent out.
