Lost Traditions Cover Reveal!

With another Nerezia release right around the corner, the time has come to collectively delight in another of Eva’s incredible Nerezia covers!

Lost Traditions Cover Reveal

Lost Traditions is what I think of as “Keza’s episode”. When I first outlined Nerezia, I wanted space to dedicate a novella to each of the crew besides Horace (who always narrates otherwise). We’ve had Motes of Inspiration and Rumi’s past + meeting of the Wagon, we’ve had Ruined History (or will have next week!) and a deeper dive in the overarching plot and Aliyah’s feelings about being stuck in it, and now we have Lost Traditions and Keza being forced to reckon with her exile :D

Let’s get to it! Cover, then blurb, then all the covers together ✨

Cover for Lost Traditions, the Chronicles of Nerezia #7, with the title in bold letters at the top. It depicts a cat person seen from behind, staring at Horace, a warrior clad in yellow in a menacing position. Eir eyes shine golden. They are in the high grass of a marsh, in front of an old overgrown monastery with a hexagonal doors. The colours are in deep purple and grey-ish blues.

Fate and friendship brought Horace, Rumi, Keza, and Aliyah together in Rumi’s sentient self-propelling wagon. Their travels across a world haunted by Fragments, dangerous shards that can possess travellers, has brought many answers about Aliyah’s past, her strange abilities, and the Fragments themselves.

Only one obstacle remains between them and the forest of Aliyah’s dreams: a cursed marsh filled with ever-shifting terrain and thick Fragment storms. When Keza spots the sacred flowers of her people, however, she drags Horace deep into the marsh, to a crumbled monastery. Nothing is left of its previous inhabitants but the angry Fragmented remains of an Inae Earth Master.

The master is desperate to pass on their knowledge, a technique far different from Keza’s water dance, but in order to do so, they require a body to possess and a worthy heir.  Horace provides a perfect host, but Keza—abrasive, uncouth, and exiled from her own clan—is far from the ideal student. Sparks fly between mentor and pupil, and Keza will need to rein in her natural snark if she wants to free her friend and inherit her people’s lost traditions.

A spread of seven cover images that form one continuous canvas. The scenery goes from a red-sand desert (Awakenings) to a lush river valley (Flooded Secret), to a sea-side city (The Sea Spirit Festival), to a whirlpool in the water surrounded by a golden kraken (Stories from the Deep), to a beautifully carved stone corridor with etchings on the wall (Motes of Inspiration), to ruins of stone bathed in deep pink moonlight (Ruined History), and finally to a grey marsh with an abandoned monastery covered in blue flowers (Lost Traditions).

It’s so good to see them together in a row. We’ve truly come so far in about two years? (Obviously I’ve been writing this for longer but two years ago we were announcing the Kickstarter, or close enough).

You can preorder Lost Traditions as an ebook already! And if you’re not caught up on these, there are discounts running for Nerezia 1 through 5 on my itchio, to celebrate Ruined History’s coming release.
