Meetup Update - September & October 2024

David Tennant and Ncuti Gatwa Define the Disney Era of Doctor Who
Yes, this is on our agenda

Chicago Doctor Who Meetup is heading into the fall season with a great selection of events! We’re highlighting several meetups and other events to ensure you have a great time moving out of September and into October.

It all starts this Friday as our pals at Down in Front hold a special riffing of the classic movie Ghost. Join them on September 27th at 8:00 pm at Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro. Learn more and RSVP via Meetup and Facebook!

Then on Saturday, September 18th at 2:00 pm, join us for our in-person coffee social at Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea in Lincoln Park! Just a few steps from the North & Clybourn Red Line, this will be our final in-person event of 2024! Let us know you’re coming via an RSVP on Facebook or Meetup!

Back in 2003, plans were afoot for a special web-based animated Doctor Who story when it was soon announced that the show would return with Christopher Eccleston. Learn about this deepest of deep cuts (as well as a possible explanation of “that scene” in Rogue with our virtual screening of Scream of the Shalka on Sunday, October 6th at 7:00 pm CST. Reserve your virtual seat by RSVPing via Meetup or Facebook!

Our friends at Raks Geek are putting on a special Halloween-themed extravaganza, and you’re invited to join them! Their next in-person show is Friday, October 11th at 7:00 pm at the Newport Theater, and tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite.

Finally, we’re holding a virtual TARDIS Talk about the “Disney-era” of Doctor Who. From the 2023 specials to this year’s first “official” season, Doctor Who on Disney has given us many things to discuss. What did we think? What went right? What could be improved? And where does the show go from here? Join us via Zoom on Thursday, October 24th at 7:00 pm CST and RSVP via Meetup or Facebook.

We’re also planning some Patreon-exclusive gatherings and screenings. If you join as a free member, you can get access to these meetings, and paid members get to select episodes and themes. (Plus, you get a heads-up on what we’re planning and you get to have an active role in how we proceed). Keep us moving financially by becoming a paid Patreon member

Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you soon!
