Cheers RVA!
Today will be partly cloudy with a high of 88 and a low of 70, with a slight chance of a thunderstorm later in the day.
the juice:
Hanover County will host a ribbon cutting ceremony today at 3:00 pm at 12439 Maple Street to celebrate the opening of a 4.8 mile section of the Fall Line Trail.
This part of the trail connects the Ashland Trolley Line Trail to Woodman Road in Henrico County.
Bike Walk RVA is organizing a group ride to the ceremony beginning at Bryan Park with wheels down at 1:30 pm.
The 43-mile Fall Line Trail will eventually connect Ashland to Petersburg, with 20 miles expected to be completed or actively under construction by the end of the year.
the pulp:
Multiple people were detained after police raided two vape shops in Richmond on Tuesday afternoon, including one near the corner of Lombardy and Broad Street, according to the RTD. The operations were led by Chesterfield Police with support from Richmond Police.
Henrico County officials will host a community meeting tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 at Freeman High School to address safety concerns along the corridor of Three Chopt Road between Freeman and Tuckahoe Middle School (which includes Ridge Elementary), via the Citizen. A middle school student died last month after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road on a bicycle near the school.
the dive:

The proposal deals with fees specifically for what’s called “trespass towing,” or the removal of a vehicle from private property. (Towing of cars from public streets and at the order of police is regulated separately and in Richmond is done by Seibert’s under a longstanding city contract.)
Virginia law caps how much companies can charge for trespass towing. Earlier this year, the General Assembly increased the limit for a hookup and initial towing fee from $150 to $210 but continued to let local governments set lower caps if they choose.
