Seven RPS high schools sent students home early on Thursday after threats were called to Richmond Police, via WTVR.

Thirty to thirty-five tiny homes are expected to be built on northside off Chamberlayne Avenue in an effort to provide housing for the homeless and low-income residents, via WRIC. City council approved the sale of two lots at the 1500 block of Fendall Avenue to the nonprofit Eden Village of Richmond earlier this week. Eden Village’s philosophy is that “by giving a person a roof over their head and a secure place to sleep, then their bodies are no longer in survival mode, and they are able to strive.” A point in time count by Homeward indicated they were about 600 people experiencing homelessness in the greater Richmond area in the summer of 2024.
GRTC is building five new electric-vehicles charging stations for its fleet of vehicles as part of its Link program, a microtransit service launched in 2023, via Bizsense. Link provides free curb-to-curb rides between any two places in dedicated zones that are not supported by traditional bus routes.
The Indian and Sri Lankan food festival takes place on Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm at 10509 Greenwood Road in Glen Allen.
The Richmond Symphony will perform a free tent concert on Saturday at 6:00 pm at Chimborazo Park. Enjoy the free family event with “rousing patriotic melodies and classical favorites.”
