the juice:
A family bike parade will be held today to express support for the cyclist hit by a vehicle on Patterson Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The flyer writes:
Join us on a family bike ride to show Mr. Muzik how much he means to our community! Wear red for Munford. Decorate your bikes. Wear suspenders. Show the city that we all demand safer, slower, pedestrian-friendly roads.
The parade begins at Albert Hill Middle School at 4:30 pm and ends at Mary Munford. Helmets are required.

Mr. Muzik remains in the hospital with injuries considered life-threatening.
According to WWBT, Richmond Police have determined he was riding west on Patterson in the parking lane between the traffic lane and bike path when the collision occurred.
The driver remained on the scene, and police have determined speed and driver impairment were not factors in the crash, although the incident remains under investigation with police continuing to seek eyewitnesses and/or video evidence of the crash.
City council member for the 1st district Andrew Breton notes:
There’s a lot going on in that intersection. There’s people trying to cut through to avoid the Westmoreland traffic light, and there’s people trying to get to school and there’s people trying to race each other because the lanes are going from two to one in each direction and so people are either speeding up because it’s opening up or they’re speeding up to get in front of each other as it narrows down.
Funding has already been allocated for extending the bike lanes all the way to Willow Lawn.
the pulp:
Small business affected by the water crisis in January will soon be able to apply for grants from the water recovery fund, from WRIC. To qualify, a business must have less than $3 million in annual revenue, operate in a commercial space, and be in a water-dependent industry. Applications open March 17 and close March 28.
The 39th Church Hill Irish Festival takes place this weekend beginning Saturday at 10:00 am with the annual parade and goes until 6:00 pm, with multiple stages, bagpipes, corned beef and cabbage, dancing, and more. The two-day event takes place between 25th and 26th streets and Broad and Grace.
the dive:
Graham Moomaw from the Richmonder dives into the revised $30 million plan to revamp Brown’s Island:
What started as a push to plant more trees on the man-made island has evolved into a bigger project that would add a wide variety of new features, including a flexible-use pavilion, permanent restrooms, a splash pad and slide for kids, terraces and an enhanced approach to the T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge that connects the north and south sides of the river.
