Sign a Petition, Respect Cones
Cheers RVA!
Slightly cooler today with a high of 84. Saturday in the 60’s, showers are expected at some point over the weekend.

An arts park under the Manchester Bridge? What a great idea. From RVA Mag:
Ian Hess’s proposal for a public arts park is more than just a plan for beautification—it’s a vision for economic and cultural revitalization through the arts.
Spring and Summer evenings are a great time to walk or bike across the ‘teapot’ bridge and enjoy the skyline and the sound of the river below. Why not build an arts park under the Manchester bridge? It’d be another place to congregate alongside the lookout and climbing wall. Sign the petition here if you think it’s a cool idea. 831 people have so far. It is expected to cost half a million, and pushback suggests something on a smaller scale.

Scott’s addition parking lot dispute heads to appeals court from Mike Platania at Bizsense. I’m sure Good Morning RVA’s Ross Catrow would be in favor of developing the parking lot!
the haps:
Bubblescon! An all local comics reading event at the Main Public Library, Saturday from 9 am - 5 pm. Scott from Oregon Hill posted about it. I think it’s pretty neat that Oregon Hill has it’s own neighborhood website.

Back to the juice. I started thinking about street art in various cities I’ve lived. In Szczecin, Poland, the city sanctioned the graffiti jam, and the concrete Oder river overpasses (just like Manchester bridge) were beautified. In Copenhagen, Denmark, the city would pay local artists to graffiti construction site walls as a means of temporary beautification. While it may be doubtful an arts park is constructed under the Manchester bridge sometime soon, there are practical solutions cities can provide to use graffiti and other urban art to beautify while maintaining “order”.
This local collection of Richmond street art was last updated in 2020. This map is useful for those looking to tour Richmond murals.
the vibe:
It’s nice it’s cooling down a bit, but curious about the rain. Also thinking about how folks who don’t work M-F feel when others say tgif. Have a great day RVA!
