Members from the Dutch Cycling Embassy met with Richmond transportation planners last Friday, according to Ian Stewart from the Richmonder.
Senior transport planner Marco Mulder noted that infrastructure-wise, Richmond has the potential to a be a nine, but is closer to a four or five right now, relative to most Dutch cities which are around a six.

Three Richmond schools are hosting ‘walk-ins’ today to support the teacher’s union and national education funding, via South Richmond News. The demonstrations are part of a nationwide effort to show elected leaders unity in support for the “programs and protections are communities need to thrive.”
The Richmond Kickers begin their campaign in the US Open Cup tonight against the Virginia Dream FC, via Richard Hayes at RVA Hub. The US Open Cup is the oldest ongoing soccer competition in the United States and is technically a knock-out competition, meaning amateur teams could theoretically play top MLS teams.

Former Virginia Supreme Court Justice Lawrence Koontz died Sunday at the age of 85 in Salem. Markus Schmidt from the Mercury notes the impact Koontz had on the state’s judiciary:
In a 2008 dissent in Porter v. Commonwealth, Koontz warned that Virginia’s death penalty laws would not withstand constitutional scrutiny if courts failed to rigorously ensure fair trials.
