He went to Norfolk Academy, Harvard Business etc, got even richer through private equity at the Carlyle Group. They are known for getting rich off wars, among other things. The power struggle of private equity made him a loser, so he decided to become the governor? via Bloomberg
Why is this relevant to Richmonders? Because one of the candidates for Mayor has a similar story. Collegiate guy, got even richer on wall street, now wants to be mayor.
