The Virginia congressional primaries are today. The main election to watch is the Senate Republican primary which determines who faces Tim Kaine in the Senate Race. Graham Moomaw at the Virginia Mercury dives in.
The City of Richmond is in the 4th Congressional District, where both parties’ candidates are running unopposed.
The Greater Richmond area does include parts of the 1st Congressional District, where the Republican candidate is unopposed, but the Democratic primary includes candidates Leslie Mehta and Herb Jones.
Both have raised slightly more than $100k, according to vpap.org.
I don’t know the history of the gerrymandering of Virginia’s Congressional districts, but this shape looks funny:

All this heat got me thinking about cities with hot climates and local infrastructure.
