Samuel Parker from the RTD is reporting three different city departments have spent $340k over the last two years at the Florida-based advertising and consulting firm owned by Petula Burks’ ex-business partner.
Burks recently resigned amid questions about her use of city funds.
According to records, workers in Procurement Services and Community Wealth Building, as well as the Communication department have engaged the services of the firm over 30 times in the past half-year.

South Richmond News interviews Stephanie Starling, the only candidate so far running for the 9th district seat on City Council against the incumbent, Nicole Jones.
Starling is from Richmond, went to Richmond Public Schools, and moved back after graduating from Norfolk State University.
She has worked in customer service at Verizon for 18 years, in addition to volunteerism and advocacy in her local community on Southside.

Starling channels an urgency – “Southside can’t wait,” she says. “The 9th District is not last… we are just as important”. Her platform includes: A More Equitable 9th District, Banking & Food Access, Infrastructure and Development, Sidewalks + Public Safety, and Affordable Housing + Rent.
