More Rain, Muzik is Back, and Big Pharma Comes to Goochland

A pharmaceutical manufacturer announced plans to build a $5 billion facility in Goochland in the West Creek Business Park.

Construction is expected to take five years and provide 1800 jobs, with 650 full-time jobs expected at the facility once its complete.

Eli Lilly is a 150-year old company with over 49k employees worldwide, and as of October 2024 was the largest pharmaceutical company in the world with a market capitalization of $842 billion.

the pulp:

  • The planning department is still seeking feedback from residents regarding the Zoning Code Refresh, with an interactive map open to feedback until September 28. No changes to the zoning code will occur in 2025 and city council will consider a final proposal in 2026, with continued opportunities for public feedback. The code has not been updated since the 1970’s.

  • The Henrico School Board will host three town meetings over the next few weeks to discuss school redistricting options that could affect as many as 16 schools, via the Citizen. Seven possible scenarios are being considered to address capacity issues and align school feeder patterns.

  • Greg Muzik, the Mary Munford principal who was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on Patterson Avenue, has returned to work, via WWBT. Muzik uses a walker at school and says his body is at 80%, though he believes a full recovery is possible.
