Governor Glenn Youngkin signed 7 bills into law and vetoed 48, per the AP.
Bills signed of note:
A bill that changes how the Virginia Board of Education handles overdoses on school premises, mandating a plan for schools to follow in such situations and for promptly notifying parents
A bill expanding a locality’s speed-reducing authority to roadways within a business or residence district, including state-owned highways. VDOT had been denying speed limit decreases because only the Commissioner of Highways could authorize changes on state-maintained roads.
Bills vetoed of note:
A bill saying Virginians have a right to contraception
A bill requiring insurers to cover contraceptive medication and devices
The slot-machine lookalike “skill game” measure, which would have made the games operable again
A bill that nixed a property tax exemption for the 501(c)(3) United Daughters of the Confederacy
The 48 vetoes on Friday brings the total number of vetoes by Youngkin to 201 of 1046 bills passed by the General Assembly.

The Richmond Kickers and the Richmond Ivy Soccer Club have partnered with a local business, Richmond Water, to provide free water refill stations at City Stadium, from Channel 6. The mission of the company is to reduce reliance on single-use plastic bottles.
City Stadium hasn’t had city recycling since the service was cut during the pandemic.
The Kickers are 1-4 with 2 draws, sitting in 8th place of 12 teams in the USL League 1. The Ivy, Richmond’s new Women’s soccer club, is 1-0 with their next game Thursday, at City Stadium against the Charlottesville Blues.

Richmond’s Bike month continues with a group bike ride through Richmond’s trolley history, from South Richmond news. Bike along Forest Hill and Hull Street while enjoying the views and the comfort of riding together in a large group.
The event is open to cyclists of all levels, and will be held from 6-8 pm on Wednesday starting at the Stone House Richmond.
