State Senator Schuyler VanValkenburg has asked Attorney General Jason Miyares for a legal opinion regarding the new Rosie’s set to open in Henrico, from Sean Jones at the RTD:
VanValkenburg argues that the historical horse racing machines are essentially slot machines and weren’t a consideration of Henrico’s three decade-old referendum.
“Even if you voted for it in 1992, you didn’t vote for that,” VanValkenburg told people at a town hall last week. “What we’re really doing is putting slot machines in neighborhoods.”
