The 13th annual Richmond Jazz and Music Festival takes place this weekend, with a performance tonight at the Hippodrome, followed by the main two-day event at Maymont.
There will be two main stages at the park, with no overlapping sets and performances set to begin at 2:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with gates opening at 1:00 pm.
T.I.,CeeLo Green, and Jodeci are headlining this year’s event.

Over 30k clear backpacks with school supplies have been prepared to send to Richmond area children, via the Richmonder. The eight annual Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive took place on Thursday afternoon with more than 400 volunteers assisting to send backpacks to all children in Richmond Public Schools, as well as those in Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover and Petersburg.
Mayor Avula has said that Governor Youngkin has indicated flexibility beyond August 15 for the city to pay $5.8 million in restitution to a man wrongfully imprisoned for more than 20 years, via VPM. The Governor had previously threatened to withhold funding to the state if the deadline was not met.
The Department of Neighborhood and Community Services has added a number of new offices and positions this summer, including the newly formed Office of Gun Violence Prevention, via rva.gov.
