First Fridays, Salary Transparency, and the Mayo Bridge Replacement

A woman was killed Wednesday evening while crossing Main St. when a vehicle struck her and then fled the scene, from WRIC.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Robinson and Main around 11 pm.
Police are looking for the driver of a dark-colored sedan and working with local businesses that may have had surveillance of the accident.
This is the second pedestrian in Richmond killed by a vehicle this week after a man was struck while walking on the sidewalk of Chamberlayne Ave on Tuesday by a vehicle that went off the road.

John Murden from South Richmond News reports the Mayo Bridge replacement will include both bike lanes and a shared-use path. Bike Walk RVA, a Sportsbackers program that advocates for “comfortable and connected places to bike and walk”, has been working closely with various organizations and the new administration to a prioritize a safer bridge for cyclists and pedestrians.
