Election Results and Utility Bills

Cheers RVA!

Today will be mostly sunny and breezy with a high of 71 and a low of 47.

the juice:

All three Democrats won the statewide elections with Abigail Spanberger receiving about 57% of the votes for Governor, Ghazala Hashmi receiving 55% of the votes for Lieutenant Governor, and Jay Jones receiving nearly 53% of the votes in the race for Attorney General.

Spanberger will be Virginia’s first woman to serve as Governor.

Democrats boosted their majority in the House of Delegates, securing at least 63 of the 100 seats, with one race still too close to call.

In the City of Richmond, 53% of registered voters cast a ballot in the election, while voter turnout in Chesterfield and Henrico Counties was 60% and 59% respectively.

the pulp:

  • A number of customers (less than 5k, according to the DPU) on Richmond’s Southside were impacted by an equipment failure that resulted in “the corruption of utility meter reading data” and will receive a single bill reflecting the previous and current billing period, with a 15% reduction in fees to help offset the disruption.

  • Bizsense has released a list of the top 25 fasting growing companies in the region, with Richmond National Insurance Company achieving more than 2000% average annual growth over the last three years.

the vibe:

Have a glowing day RVA!
