Casinos, Massages, and the Scott Burger
Cheers RVA!
Things cool off a bit with temperatures mostly in the 50’s throughout the day. Maybe a taste of 63.
The juice:
Petersburg City Council selects developer for planned Casino, former NFL player Bruce Smith is involved, Mercury Moomaw reports from the Virginia-Mercury
The pulp:
UVA terminates one fraternity and suspends three others for hazing violations per the AP
More arrested in Chesterfield illicit massage business per 12 on your side
The dive:
You might know this Real Life Lore youtuber from the “You are unbelievably small video” that really makes one question life, his 3rd most popular video with 30M views. His videos as a whole are meh, narration over a combination of stock vid and homemade animation. But his most recent video had a couple compelling graphics:
Can’t say I love the reality his doom-based voice and musical score dominate the algo, but this particular video is worth a skim if you like cool maps for international conflicts.
The cycle:
Just repeat news but this photo from Jack Jacobs at BizSense is killer. Kudos to the gentleman on the right for appearing to shovel the most shiz.
Fall Line Trail project breaks ground on 5-mile Hanover segment - Richmond BizSense
The Hanover groundbreaking followed a similar event late last year to kick off construction of the Henrico County portion of the trail, which will run 43 miles from Ashland to Petersburg.
The tangent:
Rich Richmonders know the Gottwald name, and this article, also from BizSense, got trolled by Scott Burger, with one simple comment, “Ethyl is Lethal to it’s neighbors”, which got 22 downvotes but still led me to Oregon Hill.
From there → 2018 article with some old-school Oregon Hill protest photos.
From Oregon Hill protests → the 1976 casetext of Ethyl v the EPA.
From casetext → In 2023, Thomson Reuters enters into a definitive agreement to acquire award-winning legal AI company Casetext, a Y Combinator–backed legal tech startup.
I digress.
The vibe:
Breathe deep, the air quality is Good according to the Weather Channel.
Cheers RVA!
