BB Gun Vandals, Gardenfest, and Tree Planting

Local Richmonder Robert Mazzanti won the Marathon with a time of 2:25:12. The women’s division was won by Allie Baum of Maryland, with a time of 2:46:30.
Three businesses along Broad Street were shot at with BB guns late Saturday night, from WTVR. One of the businesses was Impawsible Pups, a pet training facility which had it’s front windows shattered, but no animals were injured.
A man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on Hull St. Sunday evening, from WRIC. The man was using a designated crosswalk, and the driver remained on the scene.
The Gardenfest of Lights opens to the public tonight at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, and runs through January 5th. The event is rain or shine, and tickets must be purchased in advance. They even have special nights for dogs!
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts was ranked the 11th best Art Museum in the United States by the Washington Post. The museum will begin a new project next year to to build the McGlothlin Wing II, a five-story, $261 million expansion that will make the VMFA one of the five largest art museums in the country, from RVAMag.

Volunteers from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation planted over fifty new trees at Oakwood Playground in Church Hill on Saturday morning.
The event was co-sponsored by Virginia Interfaith Power and Light, an organization “dedicated to bringing together all faith communities to mobilize a religious response to climate change through energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.”
The Richmond Urban Forestry Division maintains the City’s 120k city-owned trees of more than 80 species, and is also responsible for planting about 2k new trees per year.
Their dashboard includes tree sites charted by Council District as well as species and a map of pinned trees.
Another tree planting is planned in Church Hill for December 6th.
The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and the Church Hill Association are partnering to plant new trees along the streets of the neighborhood. Sign-up to volunteer here.

The Hill Cafe in Church Hill also had their widows shot out with a BB gun as well as several cars in that area. I wonder if the vandalism is related to?
