Richmond’s new riverfront concert venue will officially be named the ‘Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront’. The venue has a capacity of 7500 and is projected to host 40 shows during the summer season of 2025.
The restaurant Barrio in the Fan is expected to close and reopen as an Egyptian and Middle Eastern Restaurant, via Mike Platania at Bizsense.
South Richmond News reports on the mayoral forum held Monday evening at Boushall Middle School, including a link to a video of the event. Translation was provided in real time in both Spanish and English, with roughly 60 people attending the forum. Only one person rode a bike to the forum.
The “Citizens Debate” took place yesterday evening, with Michael Phillips from the Richmonder and RVA Dirt reporting it was more similar to a forum with little disagreement among the candidates. Watch each candidate’s response to the 11 questions asked here.
A person was shot with life-threatening injuries just after 8 pm in Churchill last night. A police officer was also shot, with no confirmation on the injuries, via channel 12. The shooting occurred at the 2900 block of East Broad near the McDonald’s.

Jonathan Spiers at Bizsense interviews candidate Danny Avula in the 2nd part of the mayoral Q&A series. Regarding tax relief in the City, Avula says:
As Mayor, I will commit to working at both the state and local level to secure and implement tax relief for our vulnerable residents and small businesses impacted by rising assessments and recent problems in the Finance Department.
The General Assembly has considered a bill (SJ247) that would allow localities to provide property tax relief and exemption for low-income residents. I would personally lobby for this bill’s passage, and upon passage, ensure that it is promptly enacted in Richmond.
