A Vote Deferred and a St. Mary's Expansion

The Richmond Public School board voted to defer a vote on new policies regarding collective bargaining to its November meeting.
More than 30 people participated in the public comment period, many of whom supported a deferment or a vote of no on the new policies presented by the board.
The collective bargaining agreement sets the terms and conditions for more than 1200 Richmond Public School workers.
Ultimately the board voted 6-3 in favor of deferring a vote, with boardmembers Faruk (3rd), Hedgepeth (4th), and Burke (7th) voting against the deferment.

Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Henrico has broken ground on a $370 million expansion, via WRIC. The eight-story critical care will expand the capacity of the intensive care units and is expected to open in 2028.
VCU is investigating reports of hazing at an unrecognized fraternity, from WWBT. The Theta Chi chapter at VCU was closed in February of 2025.
