The Richmond Alternative School will have a virtual renaming conversation on Wednesday, July 10 at 6:00 pm. You can register to join the meeting here, or submit ideas via the website here. Wednesday is the last day to submit an idea.
After Wednesday’s virtual meeting, the top 5 recommended names will be discussed at two more public hearings at the school, the first on July 17.

Hanover County has approved Kings Dominion’s plans to build a new rollercoaster where Volcana used to stand. The official design is unknown but online sleuths are predicting a massive wing coaster, from the RTD.

The Capital Trail Outdoor Equity Fund is accepting applications for grants with the purpose of increasing equitable access to the trail.
Currently $20k is available and the deadline for submission is August 14th. The minimum grant is $1k and the maximum $5k.
Created in 2021, the equity fund has awarded $70k so far.

Jon Baliles has a touching tribute to Stella Dikos who passed away at the age of 82 on June 28th.
She was born in Northern Greece in 1942 when the country was occupied by the Nazis during World War II. Stella’s mother died during childbirth when she was three years old and lost five children before delivering Stella and later her little brother, Nick. Stella’s grandmother moved in to help care for the children and shared a room with her, but often clashed with Stella’s father, Mikhail.
