OCTOBER 10 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

- Councilwoman Noel moved to reconsider a request to rezone 1710 S Holtzclaw Avenue from R-2 to UGC. The case will be reheard on October 24.
- The council voted on a number of rezoning requests (first and final reading), including:
- Deferring a request to rezone 1133 & 1137 Old Pineville Road from R-1 to R-3 until November 13. Planning Commission recommended to deny the request.
- Deferring a request to rezone 5468 Old Hixson Pike from O-1 to C-2 until October 17.
- Deferring a request to rezone 3320 & 3440 Lightfoot Mill road from R-2 to M-1 until October 17.
- Deferring a request to rezone 1812 Hickory Valley Road from R-1 to R-T/Z until October 17.
- Deferring a request to rezone property on the 6000 block of Highway 58 from R-1 to C-2 until October 17.
- Approving a request to rezone a property on the 2800 block of Dodds Avenue from M-1 to UGC. RPA recommended to deny the request.
- Deferring a request to create a new Form Based Code zone for the Westside Evolves project until October 31.
- Deferring a request to rezone properties on the 2400 block of E Main Street from C-2 to C-3 until October 17.
- Deferring a request to lift zoning conditions from 901 S Holtzclaw Avenue until October 24.
- Deferring a request to lift zoning conditions from a property on the 1300 block of Vance Avenue until October 24.
- Deferred a request to create a new downtown zone allowing buildings up to 20 stories in height until October 17.
- The council confirmed the appointment of Vivian White to the Head Start Governing Board.
- The council authorized a $10M grant application to HUD to be used for affordable housing.
- The council authorized a $15k grant application (with a $3k city match) to USDOT for fire fighter training systems.
- The council confirmed the appointment of Jim Exum as an Administrative Hearing Officer.
- The council approved 4 public works contracts.
- The council approved 3 routine purchases, including a ~$390k contract for a CCTV Truck from Cues.
- The council was notified of 4 sole-source purchases.

- A request to rezone 3320 & 3440 Lightfoot Mill road from R-2 to M-1 until October 17.
