GENERAL HIGHLIGHTS
- The Mayor is hosting Open Office Hours on October 27 from 1-4:30pm at the Family Justice Center (5750 Uptain Road). Request an appointment here.
- The Mayor wrote an explanation of the upcoming $186M sewer bond issuance which you can read here.
OCTOBER 11 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

- The council opened with a presentation from Mayor Kelly on the proposed conversion of the Airport Inn on Lee Highway into supportive housing for those transitioning from homelessness. The city will be hosting a public hearing for the projeect at the Family Justice Center on October 26 at 6pm. The first reading will tentatively go before the city council on November 1. - The city council:
- voted to amend city code related to sanitary sewer laterals (final reading). Residents will no longer be responsible for the cost of any road repairs that might be required due the replacement of a sewer lateral.
- voted on a number of rezoning ordinances (see the minutes for full details).
- voted to confirm the appointment of Vivian White to the Head Start Governing Board
- deferred a vote to amend the Tax Increment Financing Policies and Procedures to October 25. The text of the resolution has not yet been made available.
- The STVR Ad Hoc Committee will next meet on November first in the city council hall.
- A number of residents addressed the council, primarily regarding the conversion of the Airport Inn. You can watch the full comments here.
OCTOBER 18 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

On October 18 the city council will:
- vote on a number of rezoning ordinances (see the agenda for full details).
- vote on a resolution to apply for a HUD Lead Hazard Control grant.
- vote on a resolution to amend the Debt Management Policy to allow for certain federal and state loan programs.
- vote on a resolution to issue up to ~$186M in sewer revenue bonds to fund repairs and expansions of the city sewer system.
- vote to confirm the appointment of Reginald Washington to the Beer and Wrecker Board.
- vote to confirm Corri Bischer to the Head Start Governing Board.
- vote to confirm the appointment of Marion Quarles, Michael Webb, and Paul Norman Judd to the Board of Plumbing Examiners.
- vote to confirm the appointment of Marion Quarles, Paul Norman Judd, and Darren Moten to the Board of Gas Examiners.
- vote to confirm the appointment of Marvin Brewster to the Board of Electrical Examiners
- vote to confirm the appointment of Larry Daniels to the Board of Mechanical Examiners
