November 21, 2022 - New Building Codes, Noise Ordinance, and More

NOVEMBER 15 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

At the November 15 agenda session, the city council:
- discussed the adoption of newer versions of International Building and Fire Codes.
- discussed changes to the city noise ordinance, including moving to a complaint-based enforcement system.
- discussed changes to the wrecker ordinance which controls the prices of wrecker services.
- discussed the formation of a new Affordable Housing Committee and welcomed Nicole Heyman as the new Chief Housing Officer for the City of Chattanooga.
At the November 15 business session, the city council:
- voted on several rezoning case (see minutes for full details).
- voted to confirm the appointment of Cassandra Nice and Chanda Chambers to the North Chattanooga Region 3 Community Advisory Board.
- voted to confirm the appointment of Linda Mathis, Carlos Santez McConnell, Timothy Bowman, and Nan Zamata to the Standifer Gap Region 9 Community Advisory Board.
- approved a number of property transfers (see agenda for full details).
- approved a new liquor store at 6231 Perimeter Drive.
- waived park rental fees or Reindeer on the Riverfront ($2,750).
- voted on 3 public works contracts (see minutes for full details).
- approved 6 routine purchases, included an ~$8.4M contract for pharmacy services for city employees. A number of citizens addressed the council, many of them on the issue of homelessness. You can view all the public comments here.
NOVEMBER 22 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

The proposed city council agenda for November 22 includes:
- votes on several rezoning case (see agenda for full details).
- a vote to direct the newly formed Sports Authority Board to begin due diligence work with regards to the proposed South Broad Stadium. The city shall bear all expenses of this due diligence research.
- votes to confirm the appointment of Vickie Haley as interim Chief Financial Officer and Phillip A. Noblett as interim City Attorney.
NOVEMBER 29 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

- a vote to allow an increase in billing and charges for district wreckers.
- a vote to adopt the 2018 edition of the International Building Code.
- a vote to adopt the 2018 edition of the International Fuel Gas Code.
- a vote to adopt the 2018 edition of the International Mechanical Code.
- a vote to adopt the 2018 edition of the International Plumbing Code.
- a vote to adopt the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code.
- a vote to amend the Tax Increment Financing Policies and Procedures.
- votes to confirm the appointment of Santosh Sankar and Chris Sugden to the Metropolitan Airport Authority.
- votes on 3 public works contracts (see agenda for full details).
