HIGHLIGHTS
- The Tennessee Republican Party has rejected Sabrena Smedley’s challenge of the primary results. Weston Wamp has been reaffirmed as the Republican Nominee for Hamilton County Mayor. He will be running against Matt Adams (D) on August 4.
- The proposed 2023 Fiscal Year Budget (July 2022-June 2023) is now available to the public. The executive summaries for the operating and capital budgets can be found here.The full documents can be found here. The budget can also be viewed in an interactive chart here. The city council will hold public input session during their May 31 session. The first vote will be held on June 7. The second vote will be held on June 14.
- On May 24 the city council passed the first of two votes on an ordinance to allow Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in all residential zones within the city. The second vote will be held on May 31.
- On May 24 the city council passed the first of two votes on a rezoning case for an affordable senior living development at Tucker Baptist Church on North Moore Road with amendments. The second vote will be held on May 31.
- On May 24 the city council voted to confirm Kenny Smith to the Board of Electrical Examiners and Angie To to the Chattanooga Public Arts Commission. -On May 31 the city council will vote to confirm Tara Vilan and Owen Seaton to the Beer and Wrecker Board, Nathan Bird (for transparency’s sake, that’s me) and Melanie Settles to the Historic Zoning Commission, Shawanna Kendrick to the Chattanooga Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, and Jackie Dowell and Marcus Jones to the Hamilton County Board of Equalization.

- Passed: A resolution confirming the appointment of Kenny Smith to the Board of Electrical Examiners.
- Passed: A resolution confirming the appointment of Angie To to the Chattanooga Public Art Commission.
- Passed: A resolution to enter a 5 year contract with the McKamey Animal Center for animal control services for a maximum of $10.6M.
- Passed: A resolution to approve a change order with Tricon, Inc. to increase the contract by $707k for a total of $4.4M for East Lake YFD renovations.
Other:
- Approved: 8 routine purchases
- Approved: Issuance of a Request For Proposal (RFP) for a police department organizational evaluation.
- Approved: Issuance of an RFP for Police Foundation Development and Implementation Consulting Services.
- Janice Gooden addressed the council expressing concerns about accountability for TIF funded projects.
