HIGHLIGHTS
- On May 31 the city council passed the second of two votes on an ordinance to allow Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in all residential zones within the city.
- On May 31 the city council passed the second of two votes on a rezoning case for an affordable senior living development at Tucker Baptist Church on North Moore Road with amendments.
- On May 31 the city council voted to confirm Nathan Bird (for transparency’s sake, that’s me) to the Historic Zoning Commission, Shawanna Kendrick to the Chattanooga Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, and Jackie Dowell and Marcus Jones to the Hamilton County Board of Equalization.
- On June 7 the city council will hold the first of two votes on the proposed 2023 Fiscal Year Budget (July 2022-June 2023). - On June 7 the city council will hold the first of two votes to apply the 4% hotel/motel tax to short term vacation rentals. The second vote will be held on June 14.
- On June 7 the city council will vote to confirm Eduardo Centurion and Pastor Gary Hathaway to the Chattanooga Land Bank Authority. This signals a broader movement in the mayor’s affordable housing plan, as the land bank has been inactive for several years.

- An ad hoc Short Term Vacation Rental committee meeting will be held on June 7 at 12:30pm in the J.B. Collins Conference Room. The meeting is open to the public.
- Chief Murphy addressed the council to comment on the recent shooting.
- Marie Mott addressed the council to stress the importance of using our budget to invest in communities and youth.
- Monty Bell addressed the council, purpose unclear.
- Sgt. Holmes, Sgt. Stokes, and Officer Adams, of the Chattanooga police department addressed the council to announce a youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament hosted by the CPD at the Avondale Rec Center on July 26 from noon-6pm.
- Judith Patterson Bennet addressed the council to stress the need for gun control, asking the city council to challenge state preemption on gun control.
- Dr. Everlena Holmes addressed the council to ask that the city explore the “Covenant House” model from New York to help homeless youth.
- Judy Gallagher addressed the council to announce the Moms Demand Action “Survivors Gathering” on June 4 at Tacoa Park from 11:30am-1pm.
