January 8 City Council Update
DECEMBER 19 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

- The council discussed the proposed amendment to the city skating ordinance, which would allow skates, skateboards, and other non-motorized transportation to be used on city streets. The council tabled the discussion and will schedule a work session to discuss further.

- The council approved an amendment to the Fire District Area (final reading).
- The council voted on a number of rezoning requests (final reading).
- The council deferred an amendment to city code allowing skates, skateboards, scooters, and similar devices on public streets for transportation until February 13.
- The council approved an unopened right-of-way abandonment at the 5100 block of Strickland Circle (first reading).
- The council voted on a number of lease agreements, economic development programs, and grant awards.
- The council confirmed the appointments of Quinta Robinson, Ella Kliger, Carolyn Lawhorn, Denita Strickland, and Joe Shudan to the Community Advisory Committee.
- The council approved an inclusive playground program at Riverview Park.
- The council approved two Public Works agreements.
- The council approved a wastewater easement access agreement.
- The council approved 3 routine purchases, including a $1M purchase of Automotive Parts from Lee-Smith Inc.

JANUARY 9 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

- The council will vote on an amendment to the Administrative Hearing Officer ordinance, adjusting the Levy of Civil Penalties (first reading).
- The council will vote on a number of rezoning requests (first reading).
- The council will vote on an a request to abandon unopened right-of-way on Chickamauga Ave and Pennsylvania Ave (first reading).
- The council will vote on the appointment of Dr. Patty Skates and Hank Wells to the Health, Educational, and Housing Facility Board.
- The council will vote on the acceptance of two grants, one for band equipment of Hixson highschool, another for equipment donation to the fire department.
- The council will vote on a number of Public Works and Wastewater contracts.
- The council will vote on the application for a $200k grant from the Lyndhurst Foundation for neighborhood connections.
