December 12, 2022 - STVR Moratorium, New Fee Schedules, and More

DECEMBER 6 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

At last week’s agenda session, the city council:

  • discussed proposed changes to Short Term Vacation Rental regulations and the extension of the ongoing STVR moratorium until these regulations are finalized.

At last week’s business session, the city council:

  • voted to allow an increase in billing and charges for district wreckers (second reading).
  • voted to adopt the 2018 editions of the International Building Code, Fuel Gas, Mechanical Code, and Plumbing Code (second reading).
  • a vote to amend a portion of the city code relating to sewer service lines (second reading).
  • a vote to enter a lease agreement with Chattanooga Hockey Inc. (see agenda for full details).
  • votes to authorize the appointment of several individuals as Special Police Officers (unarmed) in their capacity as code enforcement officials.
  • a vote to authorize the hiring of an additional UTC graduate assistant to serve the Office of Community Health for the amount of ~$14k.
  • a vote to approve a special exceptions permit for late night entertainment at 6924 Shallowford Road.
  • approved 6 routine purchases, including a $650k for chemicals related to wastewater services.

DECEMBER 13 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

The proposed city council agenda for this week includes:

  • votes to amend various permit and rental fees (first reading – see agenda for full details).
  • a vote to adopt to 2018 edition of the International Fire Code (first reading).
  • a vote to extend the Short Term Vacation Rental moratorium. There are two versions, one extends the moratorium until July 10, 2023, the other until February 7, 2023 (first reading).
  • votes on a number of rezoning cases (first reading - see agenda for full details).
  • a vote to authorize an $500k contribution to the Homeless Coalition.

DECEMBER 20 CITY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

  • votes to amend various permit and rental fees (second reading – see agenda for full details).
  • a vote to adopt to 2018 edition of the International Fire Code (second reading).
  • a vote to extend the Short Term Vacation Rental moratorium. There are two versions, one extends the moratorium until July 10, 2023, the other until February 7, 2023 (second reading).
  • votes on a number of rezoning cases (second reading - see agenda for full details).
  • votes to authorize a number of lease agreements (see agenda for full details).
  • a vote to authorize a donation agreement with AstroTurf Corporation to convert Jim Frost stadium to synthetic turf.
  • a vote to authorize the transfer of ~$14M to the Tennessee Department of Transportation as the city’s contribution towards the replacement of the Wilcox Boulevard Bridge.
