Chattanooga Civics Newsletter Hiatus
Subscribers,
You may have noticed that the Chattanooga Civics Newsletter has been a bit quiet the past few weeks. The simple fact is that I have spread myself a bit thin and I have neglected the newsletter as a result. I don't see my schedule getting any lighter in the near future, so I have decided to put the Chattanooga Civics Newsletter on an indefinite hiatus.
I don't take this decision lightly. I believe it is very important for everyday citizens to understand what their local legislators are doing.
Fortunately, there are other ways to stay informed!
ChattaMatters, a project of The Enterprise Center, has been publishing a very similar newsletter covering city council each week. They also post their summary of city council to Instagram. And as an added bonus, their formatting is far more sleek!
Of course, you can always watch city council meetings yourself to get the full experience!
I am confident that the original mission of the Chattanooga Civics Newsletter is being accomplished elsewhere, and I see no need to continue duplicating efforts. I will certainly consider re-starting the newsletter if the need arises again.
Rest assured, I am still dedicated to creating local civic content, primarily through the Chattanooga Civics Podcast. I am currently preparing for an interview with CARTA CEO Charles Frazier, so keep an eye out for that. I will also continue to update my Instagram feed with "bite sized" civic lessons. And I will be keeping this email list active in case there is an issue I feel is not being covered appropriately elsewhere, or I find a new format.
Stay in touch and feel free to email me with any questions you may have about local civics engagement!
Thanks,
Nathan Bird
