May (2025) Monthly Update
Happy MerMay everyone! It’s been quite a wild time huh? But the grass has become so much greener lately and I do have at least some good news to share!
Art Update
I got a breather to finish one artwork in April. March was mostly design-commissions. May tho… May is looking to change that, and going full throttle into art. A big new piece of equipment (one originally focused for the End Of The Year) is stopping by soon and will change how work is done. As well as hopefully enhance images even if by a little bit. Time will tell but I’ll be back on the art production train starting in May. Just in time for Mermay.
For Mermay, I’ll make sure to focus on merfolk images but unsure how many. Indie VTuber fanart will be attempted but the focus will be to just get back on my feet at the very least.
Commissions To Reopen
As much as I hated to do it, commissions were closed starting around April due to a large amount of commissions that I could not get to. I’m ashamed of this as I always like to have them open but it had to be done.
With how things are looking, I’m happy to announce that all commissions will be reopened this month (May). There is also one thng I want to say plainy:
There Will Be No Price Increases On Commissions
We are entering a very uncertain time in the world and I understand the worry people have. Because of this, I decided not to do any price increases. To some, this is under paying. But, I’d rather make sure people are able to both afford a commission and afford their livelihood needs.
If you’ve had an idea for a while, then here’s your chance to jump on the opportunity.
Commissions to reopen on Saturday, May 10th.
To those that have commissioned me and are waiting:
I have not forgotten about you. You will be the first priority outside of the main artworks. Expect updates in preferred DMs this month (May).
Streaming got a Phoenix Down
Originally, I was going to say “Streaming is BACK later this month!” but who knew Minecraft would get me back into streaming generally. But, I am planning to do Midday (12pmET) art streams with a few general/game streams in there.
I have become very happy with getting back on this train, there is a bit of a glitch that occured that messed with the Elgato Wave XLR but that issue has since been resolved.
I’ve also decided the first LP stream is going to be something I’ve built up for a while. It’ll be Half-Life 2, but in a way that is much more Scuf-Life thanks to the addition of mods. Look forward to that!
More info coming out in Mid-May!
Discord Worry, The Plan and Backup
Before the release of this, there have been a number of worries in regards to Discord and what might happen in due time. I don’t blame people for this worry but I would like to say my two positions when it comes to this.
The Plan:
Right now, I am sticking with Discord for the foreseeable future. It has been an absolute amazing app and way to grow a community. I will fully be honest in saying that I could do more in making it a better community server and I apologize for not doing more with the time I have. However, I am not giving up on this server nor discord. Hopefully I can invest more into it and continue to make it not just a hub to keep up with my content. When Discord actively removes or hinder important features is when a migration will even be possible. But I did start a back up….
The Backup:
As of April, I’ve created an account and a server on “Revolt,” a community developed app on GitHub that works similarly to Discord. However, multiple features are not available compared to Discord. So at this time, it’s more of something I tweak and work on as time goes on. If you would like a link to the server, the link is below but I can’t promise much activity for a while.
IRL Update
When you are seeing this, I have submitted my 2-week resonation from my HVAC Call Center job. While the money has been great to expand my workspace, it is no longer worth the mental stress and frustration is has caused. While this might not be the most opportune time to leave, I also refuse to be bogged down by this horrendous job.
I’ve also been making a schedule to so it’s not just me sitting at the computer all day but allowing me to exercise and get physically better to benefit my mental health. With essentially half of my work week hours gone, I want to fill it with not just art but things that will both benefit me and my art. Money will get tighter, but all of the important items have already been bought, so I’m more than ready to keep up with it.
One thing is needed tho:
Self-Determination
And I’m adjusting my room and desk to better help with making this not just a reality, but a reinforced reality. I’m planning on giving an update on this come June. Last time I tried even Ring Fit Adventure, my body could not handle it for days. So I’m hoping to not only regain strength but also to better myself.
Conclusion
As I’m typing this, I am feeling the burnout, I’m feeling tired but knowing that it’s almost over and I can refocus my energy into something better has been uplifting. Only took a bad job to make me really realize that.
Mid-May is looking like a real turning point and I plan to make it a good one. Stick around and hope you’re along for the ride!
