The March 2025 Cab Post

Paperwork, Utown updates, old punk bars

Recap’

Hello friends, I hope you are well! It’s been nice over here for about 3 days, but we’re ending the month in true “lousy s’Mar

ch weather”, complete with freezing rain and sub-zero temperatures. I keep storing my winter coat in hopes that spring will finally show up, but to no avail.

When I received my anemic Utown sales report, I clenched my teeth for a few minutes and decided to turn my disappointment into something productive. I gave the Utown webcomic site a little glow up and redid the drawings for the Cast section, which dated from 2019. I liked the idea of candid photos and it was an absolute treat to draw. More details here!

The Montreal Loser Jamboree is coming soon so I drew the emblematic (but chaotic) entrance of the Foufounes Électriques bar, in Montreal. I'm starting to have quite the collection of storefronts, each one more crooked and bizarre than the last! The print is available in my shop!

It was Boum's 40th birthday party and I drew her as a great karaoke warrior. That’s a bit of an exaggeration, she’s a lot cooler in real life.

The Crossover Comics bookstore in St-Henri asked me to make merch for them. We agreed on a more family-friendly approach and this is what I came up with. T-shirts and sweaters on sale here!

Announcements

Big update on the Utown website: the webcomic pages have been updated to reflect the book and the Cast section got an overhaul too. It’s a good first step towards the book but also a good complement to your reading.

I will be at the Montreal Punk Rock Flea Market Loser Jamboree on Sunday, April 6, sharing a table with my friend Ken. This is my first market outside of the festival/Comiccon circuit in… a really, really long time. I will have books, prints and artbooks. Entrance is free, there are lots of cool vendors and there’s beer! Come and say hi!

That’s all for the month of March! Thank you for reading, I always appreciate your comments, your kind words and other intervention on the various platforms. I have the best job in the world and your support allows me to continue, one month at a time :)

Cool stuff

For artists: Yannick Paquette shares his perspective drawing tips, a cursed discipline for many artists. This is incredibly generous of him, considering the experience and skills he has in the field. Available on his very nice newsletter!

For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), the new Japanese Breakfast album.

I really like journalist and writer Joan Westenberg. In a world of endless essays on Substack and the likes, I appreciate her no-nonsense writing about technology, life, and everything in between.

Cool artist: Kody Okamoto and their webcomic Keeping Time.

Vivian Wilson, Elon Musk’s trans daughter, is tearing through the internet and I’m here for it. She’s such a badass. Read her interview on Teen Vogue!

“Seeing that kind of wealth — extravagant wealth — firsthand, while living in Los Angeles and seeing the [huge] homelessness problem, the wealth gap… You start to wonder, How is this fair? You have to inevitably come to the conclusion it's not. There is no world in which people should be owning multiple private planes, private islands, private whatever, while other people are sleeping on the street. “
