The June 2026 Cab Post

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I'm writing this after attending the massive Angine de Poitrine concert at Place des Arts, a show that will undoubtedly go down in history. It's funny that the events that brought in the biggest crowds of the year were the hockey playoffs and microtonal rock. Culture is great :)

Recap

I needed to cleanse my palate before diving back into L’heure du Lunch, so I decided to draw a therapeutic facade. Mount Royal Park is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and since it's now my backyard, I illustrated the Beaver Lake Pavilion, a building I love dearly. I think it's my most touristy and proper facade to date. All the details of the image creation are here!

PUPILLES NEWS! The cover has been revealed and the book has been officially announced! Aaaah!! It's happening! To learn more about our crazy project, go see the official Front Froid page!

Whenever I finish a big comic book project, I like to create a nice colour illustration to mark the transition from the production to the promotion phase of the book. For Pupilles, I depicted the friendship between Cameron and Jessy, in the Quartier 10-30. I could’ve drawn giant robots fighting, but you know, I have a soft spot for slightly mundane chat scenes, with extra neon lights and pipes. After inking 172 pages digitally, I got out my ink and halftone sheets; I think I missed paper! The print will be on sale at Montreal Comiccon, where I'll be spending the next weekend (July 3-5). As usual, the process is on Patreon!

In a moment of moral and intellectual weakness, I argued over the use of AI online. After wasting my time explaining why it's bad to subsidize organizations and businesses that pay large American tech companies instead of local artists, I was politely told that if I wasn't happy, I should just change careers. After 14 years in graphic design and illustration. It pissed me off so bad that I wrote a blog post featuring over 10 years' worth of sketches and concepts to prove that there's real work and expertise behind every cover or illustration—and wanting to continue working in that field was pretty damn legitimate. Read all about it here.

Speaking of website, I gave mine a new homepage to reflect my upcoming books. It's weird, but it felt good to sunset Utown and Nuclear Winter. Like putting away your coats for the upcoming summer.

Announcements

The Pupilles team will be at Montreal Comiccon from July 3rd to 5th, at the Palais des Congrès. We're going to have chapter 1 of Pupilles in physical format, fresh out of the printer. I'll have books, stickers, and new prints. Come see us at tables #2730 to #2734, in the guest artists' area!

Nuclear Winter and Pupilles are on display at the Brussels Comic Museum, as part of the exhibition La bande-dessinée…à la Québécoise. A huge thanks to Québec BD for considering us for this great exhibition! More information here.

My three art books are now available in a single PDF download in my shop. 122 pages of sketches, ink drawings, comic book concepts and sticky note drawings—it's a great deal! Two of the three art books are out of print so this is the best way to look at some sweet sketches.

I've also done a major clean-up in my shop and everything is much better organized. My prints are primarily my personal work, what I do for my own pleasure, between contracts and book projects. If you like my art, visit my shop; every purchase makes a world of difference. Thank you!

That's all for June! Go outside, read a good book, and I’ll see you in July. Bye!

Cool stuff

While walking downtown, I spotted an advertisement plastered on a building, and the QR code on the poster led to a page selling... a font. I'd never seen that before! Neue Montreal is a very beautiful typeface inspired by Expo 67, from the Pangram Pangram foundry. I’d love to see more ads for typefaces and fewer of those insulting Wealth Simple ads...

Latest purchase from Cheap Thrills: the brilliant, luminous album Jubilee by Japanese Breakfast.

Project Hail Mary was really good! I like highly competent and resourceful heroes, and Ryan Reynolds, so…

Cool artist: Photographer Brendon Burton and his surreal photos of an America that exists in a parallel universe to our own.

A frictionless life is also a life without traction.
