The January 2026 Cab Post
Old new markers, baby’s first vinyl and discovering modern games

Hey everyone! We made it through the darkest ten weeks of the year. Way to go, us! Now we just have to wait patiently, like forgotten chicken fingers in the freezer, until spring arrives. It should be around 2028 if my predictions are correct. Hang in there!
Recap’
The beginning of the year has been pretty quiet to be honest. I took advantage of a lull in gigs to work on a grant application, an exercise as challenging as it was necessary. It might sound weird but writing this newsletter for the past five years has made me much more confident in my abilities to advocate for my projects. I'd love to post some art but I've been doing a lot of tedious administrative tasks this month. That's the less glamorous side of being a freelancer!
I've finished inking chapter 5 of Pupilles, which takes place in a medieval fantasy setting. Instead of containers, pipes and wires, I inked lots and lots of trees and stone turrets. Jeik and I realized that our Franco-Belgian influences were showing in the way we draw very specific things, like trees and rocks. Clearly, La Vallée des Bannis byTome and Janry has influenced us both. Once chapter 5 was finished, I posted some of the best panels from chapter 4 on Patreon, along with a compilation of the silliest Cameron face. See it here.

My sister gave me a big set of alcohol markers for Christmas and it delighted me to no end. Letraset markers were part of the mandatory graphic design school supply kit in CEGEP, and I fell in love as soon as I started using them. Over the years, I've accumulated markers from all eras and brands but they inevitably all dried out. This is also the first time I've had a complete set! My job requires me to draw almost exclusively on the computer, and I have to admit that I've pretty much neglected my sketchbooks these past few months. Even my ink is turning into tar. It seems doubly important to doodle by hand in this age of smooth, homogenous digital art. I’m gonna get back into sketching, although I'm sure a new sketchbook would cure me for good…

Announcements
After looking into it, I decided to start shipping prints only to the US again. I’m getting contradictory infos about shipping paper that is technically “merch” so I’m just gonna YOLO it. So American folks, head on over to my shop for some good art to brighten your walls :)

For Christmas, I gave my girlfriend a personalized painting of her late cat, Linux. It now sits proudly above our fireplace (decorative, condemned). I commissioned Charlotte Soucy, who immortalizes animals in oil paints, like the royalty they are.Get your own pet portrait here!!

Cool stuff
I started a game of Cyberpunk 2077 several years too late and HOLY SHIT, IT RULES. I'm not a big AAA gamer, but this is seriously awesome. The attention to detail in the environments and the world is mind-blowing, and I don't remember ever being this invested in a video game story. Playing on a projector makes the experience even more immersive, and one of my favorite things to do is drive around aimlessly around Night City. And when I’m not cruising in the future, I'm decorating hotel rooms for cute little animals in the new Animal Crossing update. It's, uh… let's say… quite a clash.

An archive of 50,000 (!!!) posters of Montreal shows, from 1820 to the present.
I have a crush on Meredith Whittaker, the president of the encrypted messaging company Signal. Here she is, talking here about the future of online security and digital rights. It's not too late to change your messaging app ;)
For a very chill evening, I recommend this smooth Daft Punk set. Daft Punk - Deep Cuts by taner’s kitchen.
I bought my first ever vinyl record!! I'd been "shopping" for a while and I found The One at Cheap Thrill: a neon pink pressing of Broken equipment by Bodega. Now that I broke the ice, I can't wait to see what other gems I'll find! Long live record stores, check out this video: Fuck AI, please do it yourself.
In the same way, if AI succeeds, we will have to live in a world where the joy of making something has turned into something you have to pay for.
