The December 2024 Cab Post

Holiday cards, eviction; the sequel and a year in drawings

Recap

Hello peeps! True to my habit, I'm writing this recap the day before the 31st, at the very last minute. It will be quick!

As part of the annual screening of the film National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, I was commissioned to make four Christmas cards for the merch table of the event. We chose a couple of iconic scenes from the movie and I put together the illustrations in a few days. And as expected, the viewing at Club Soda was an absolute riot.

Always fun to do the “Art Vs Artist” exercise at the end of the year! I feel like I've done a lot of “big drawings” this year, between contracts and storyboarding for L’heure du lunch.

The year is ending on me getting a new eviction/reprise notice lololol what fun we’re having! Since I panicked for a lifetime in 2023, I made an angry drawing instead. It’s healthier.

Announcements

The postal strike is over! I am slowly resuming my mailing schedule and I thank you all for your patience. Christmas might be over but it's never too late to place an order in my print shop! The holiday sale is in effect until January 10 :)

That’s all for December! I told you it was going to be short, a bit like the days and my breath after a 14-day bout of bronchitis. My best wishes for 2025, health in your studies and love in your successes!

Cool Stuff

I made homemade dumplings using to the book Let’s Make Dumplings by Sarah Becan and Hugh Amano and they were SO GOOD! Okay, so they were pretty ugly once cooked but you learn through experience, right?

No music recommendations this month, but rather the playlist of my 12 favorite songs of the year.

I really liked the series The Sticky, despite the fact that hearing two Quebecois characters speaking to each other in English is a bit jarring at times. Margo Martindale is fantastic as a maple farmer who’s just done with everything.
