CVMC e-News 1st February 2026
Apropos of absolutely nothing happening this week, does anyone remember this? The rain it raineth on the just and also on the unjust fella; But mainly on the just because, the unjust steals the just’s umbrella. Something my Grandma taught me years ago. Now to something I’m still learning.
A failure to correctly set parameters has meant the links placed in the last two copies of the CVMC e-News have not worked as intended. I’d like to invite you to click on the following links just to check I now know what I’m doing - at least in this regard - and to prove it’s an effective and worthwhile way of providing extra content. And yet further ahead...
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FRIDAY 6 MARCH. You are warmly invited to join with us in the great wave of prayer around the world on 6 March. We will be holding the service in St Mary’s Church Hall, Willand starting at 10.30am. The Christian women in Nigeria have organised the service this year, so let us honour and support them on 6 March. Please bring your friends, and we look forward to seeing you. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
Paul and Pennie are planning to put on a Spring concert in May. We are looking for your party pieces - songs, poems, recitations tap dances etc. The second half of the concert will take the form of a short play, so Pennie is looking for people of all ages to take part. You don't need to be Judy Dench or David Tennant - just someone who enjoys joining in. Please see either Paul or Pennie if you are interested.
And another thing – or two…

Toilet Twinning
St. Mary’s at Willand has now been twinned with its 31st toilet/latrine which is in Makwanpur, Nepal.
For those unfamiliar with the concept of toilet twinning, we should explain that by saving our small change we can pay for toilets in third world countries. Just £64 pays for a very basic toilet or latrine digging tools. Two billion people don’t have a safe, hygienic loo and women risk being attacked or bitten by snakes as they squat in the grass. Tearfund, the organisers, tell us that investing in sanitation is one of the most cost-effective forms of aid.
Please continue to save your unwanted small change for this very worthwhile cause and give any 'toilet twinning' cash to Lesley Smith 07944 295002 or Paul Johnson 07518 908057 (Churchwardens at Willand) Many thanks and every blessing
