January 2025 - Bryan's Briefing
Hey friend,
the second time now that I write this email letter about a January, I can now celebrate the completion of one whole year and continuation beyond that.
Have been ill after my new year's travels and caught another cold right after that one. But after being sick for quite a bit again I do feel better now.
Finally handed in my bachelor thesis registration documents with a starting date of this February.
Built a special timer that can split into multiple sub-timers. Using it to time-box tasks and stay focused, thus I called it the "Flow Timer" because it helps me stay in the flow state. You too can use it here.
Tinkered with building a home server some more, now using Unraid. Built a personal TV channel like experience based on different YouTube channels and TV series I like. General UX of using and maintaining it is scuffed tough, as many self-hosting things seem to be.
Also spent the recent days on learning Korean more. 요즘에 한국어 더 공부하고 있어. 졸업 후에 아마도 워킹홀리데이비자로 한국에 가고 싶어.
Also currently in the progress of joining an internship program that offers various international internships to university students. Applied to postings in Japan, Macao and Thailand.

Built a Astro Starter template that includes things I usually use when I build a new webpage. Used it to build the flow-timer page as well.
Published a post that compares Notion and Obsidian.
