February 2025 - Bryan's Briefing
Hey friend,
in Germany it really feels like spring is starting these days. I have been writing a lot for my bachelor thesis, especially the last few days. Putting my phone away and not touching it until 10pm made me much more productive.
🌱 Cool Content I Made
- https://bryanhogan.com/blog/obsidian-astro-submodule - Using Obsidian with GitHub submodules to write content for my Astro blog. This workflow is great.
- https://bryanhogan.com/blog/introduction - Slight update to my blog introduction page, it includes my best and most popular posts.
- https://tolearnkorean.com/ - Looks a bit different now, arguably a lot better! Game.ToLearnKorean also looks nicer, and it's not too far away from a MVP state now.

🚀 Other
- OpenAI's introduction to their new Deep Research feature - This feature is amazing, the first time I used it, for a topic relevant to my thesis, I got so many valuable sources and a great summary of relevant insights, multiple hours of content and research quickly condensed. The second time I used it it only used irrelevant data slop as a source, making the whole summary meaningless. Nonetheless, overall this feature has amazing potential and can already be quite valuable.
- Framework announcing Framework 12 laptop which has a touchscreen - A repairable laptop that has a touchscreen is a new innovative product, interested to see how it will be received once it launches.
- Plugin to remove video recommendations on YouTube - Found this Reddit post interesting where someone had built an app for their young children that is basically an interface for YouTube videos with all exploitative features removed. The plugin to remove all YouTube recommendation videos within a video page was also mentioned there.
- UX/UI design guides by Uxcel - Found some of the guides I used here valuable.
- Groups on opencollective.com - OpenCollective is a platform for groups to raise money, very surprised to see so many of the tools I use almost daily on this platform. Also it's interesting to see how much money they have raised, and what they are spending it on, which is displayed on there as well.
