Brunswick East Book Salon: How it started and how it's going
The Brunswick East Book Salon is a bi-monthly evening event showcasing some of today’s most engaging authors, reading from and discussing their books in a fun, informal, lively setting.
The Salon launched in October 2024 with an evening of readings from Neil D.A. Stewart (Test Kitchen), Lara Haworth (the Nero Prize-nominated Monumenta), Toby Lloyd (the Wingate Prize-listed Fervour), and the multi-award winning Lauren Beukes, reading from her latest novel Bridge.
Into 2025
The first regular event of 2025 took place in January, and featured readings from Ali Millar (Ava Anna Ada), Curtis Garner (Isaac) and Nick Blackburn (The Reactor), followed by an enlightening and at times scurrilous conversation chaired by Neil Stewart, taking in literary beginnings, the process of writing and editing, what authors choose to leave out of their writing and why, and much more besides.
Our next events
The next Brunswick East Book Salon event will take place from 7pm on Thursday 27 February, and features three debut novelists. Seth Insua joins us to discuss Human, Animal. Nussaibah Younis introduces Fundamentally, which is gaining attention far and wide. The lineup is completed by Róisín Lanigan, reading from and talking about I Want to Go Home But I’m Already There. It’s thrilling and nailbiting to bring out a first novel, and these three authors are sure to have some fascinating insights into the process of writing and publishing their books.
Tickets for the Salon are free but limited, and you can reserve a place here.

We’d love to see you at a forthcoming event! You can sign up to this mailing list for news and author announcements as they happen. Lots of exciting things to come!
