You would set a minimum/reserve price for your artwork. Unsold artwork would be returned to you. If you are donating 3D art, you would also need to supply the use of a podium or table during the sale. It would be returned to you. If you are donating 2D art, we might need the temporary use of an easel for display during the sale. It would be returned to you - Are you interested in helping to put on the event? Help is needed to transport art to the gallery, hang the art, sit at the gallery during the sale, set up online sales, market the event, and more - Kindly respond ASAP so that we may let the event organizing committee know how many of our members will participate - Thank you!
- I'll keep this up until the April 2025 newsletter: Beginning May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 and older will need a state-issued REAL ID-compliant license or identification card, or another acceptable form of ID (such as a passport), to fly within the United States. A friend was asking me if a total solar eclipse had ever occurred over California. I said that I did not know. When I next checked my google feed I had proof that my phone was listening in on my conversations. There was an article about when the next eclipse would happen over California. It will happen on August 12, 2045!

Musings and Meanderings
Bill and I have been doing a number of quick trips:
- San Diego (thank you, Laurie M., for a memorable trip complete with keeping an eye on fires, getting coffee from a garden nursery, a red trolley ride and an art walk around UCSD topped off with some yummy froyo)
- Temecula (made an off-center mandala card for a friend (of course I forgot to take a picture) and got him some treats from the Big Island completely forgetting he had a twin (again with twins) - luckily I can still tell the difference between them - I had to earn my dinner by remembering everyone's name there other than the immediate family I already knew. I thought bringing lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) would have sufficed - happy to announce that I did not go hungry that night but I am pretty sure they would have fed me)
- Studio City (to make Chinese New Year dumplings - my knowing some origami definitely helped with the pleating of the dumplings - they were steamed then fried and so yummy - dessert were works of art from one of my favorite bakeries everyone had a bite of each one - a perfect way to have dessert - also enjoyed aerobatic flying displays by nesting red tail hawks and crows and a walk in the crisp afternoon - thank you, Yolanda A.)
- Pismo Beach and Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara is usually a pit stop to stretch our legs and get some ice cream by the breakwater - we hadn't stayed in a while and we used to visit all the time back in the early and mid 2000s - felt it was time to stay as long as I found a great deal on a hotel - the trip just started so will report more next month - so far amazing meals and the most wonderful short walks with amazing views in Pismo Beach)
BTW - don't buy a phone that was not released in the US. How do I know this? Through a slightly painful experience of having to buy 2 phones and returning one but I did get a wonderful breakfast out of it. It was time to get Bill a new phone. His Samsung A51 was painfully slow and lagging for the simplest of map and data lookups despite trying everything to speed it up. After much research I got him a Samsung A55 - it seemed an obvious choice A51 to A55 - lots of memory and was fast. After setting it up Bill got a strange text from our provider, "This phone is not supported by our network". But it seemed to be working ok - we could make calls and send texts and do lookups AT HOME (duh!). So we went to the provider to see what was going on and was told that the phone was not supported. So off we went to Best Buy to get another phone, an A35. But when the A35 was setup we could not do any kind of lookups when away from the house despite checking everything out. Back to Best Buy we went and they checked and double checked, swapped sims and after an hour went into our provider account and in teeny tiny letters saw that there was a temporary data block on Bill's line because the A55 had been detected previously and not supported. Wow! Never would have known to check or even see that. Off we went, sweaty and excited, to get Bill's data turned back on at the provider. So his phone works fine now, not as much memory and not as fast, but still better than the A51. I also have a checklist for future phone purchase and on the very top - was the phone released in the US?
We had a wonderful walk locally after a few days of pretty bad fatigue and rain (in early February) - we went left instead of right from our usual walk by the Point Vicente lighthouse - peregrine falcons practicing their hover in the up drafts from the cliffs with heads perfectly still, coast guard helicopters patrolling the coast, dolphins making their way north following the pelicans, spectacular ocean greens and blues, cirrus clouds announcing good weather for the day. But we forgot water and I almost passed out on the way back even though it was a short walk (altogether about 9/10 of a mile). Yes, I must admit that I over did it. I was feeling sooo much better after the previous few days. Had to sit down on the side of the path while Bill went to get water. The ants in the area started to investigate what I was doing there and so I gingerly stood up and moved off at a really slow pace. Stopped again to take another break at a picnic table and met Bill on his way back after he also moved the car closer to the trail head. Note to self: turn around sooner than you think and when you are still feeling well
I started to follow the Model Strangers channel on YouTube. The content creator takes photographs of people he finds interesting after asking their permission. I am floored at some of the life experiences shared with him. He has quite the eye in capturing their "them-ness" and what was even more amazing is what happens to some of the people after he features them on his social media platforms.
I hadn't heard the owl lately and I was wondering if perhaps their reopening the back half of the park (where we are) and the presence of more people may have driven it away. But I did hear it a few nights ago and I wondered what kind of owl it was. I found a resource that allowed me to listen to their calls as I could not locate or see this owl. Turns out he is a great horned owl, his calls matching exactly to what I was hearing down to the frequency and pitch. And it is a "he" as the females hoot in a higher pitch. I hope he continues to stop by to roost and maybe even set up a nest with his future mate. I suspect the tree outside our window is a place for him to take a break. I wonder if I should name him? Shadow? Noctis? Xerxes?
See you in March
