  • There is no difference between In-person1 (blue entries) and In-person2 (red entries) or Online1 (orange entries), Online2 (light teal entries) and Online3 (purple entries), just a way to visually separate workshops; light purple entries are for festivals or conferences; yellow are public online meetings from various book arts guilds and museums; anything with ** are newly found workshops and events since the last newsletter was sent out

  • To change views in the calendar: on laptop/PC/tablet locate the 3 bar or hamburger button [≡] upper right corner and select .. Day .. Week .. Month .. Agenda, List - on cellphone locate 3 bar button and select the down arrow button to the left of it and make your selection as above

  •  To move backwards or forwards in time in the calendar: on laptop/PC/tablet locate "Today" in the upper left corner and click on the single left facing arrow to back one time period (based on what view you have selected) and single right facing arrow to move one time period forward - on cellphone locate the ">>" button and to the right of that will be the single left & right facing arrow

  • Look for magnifying glass on your screen to do a Search by state, town, instructor name, time zone, keyword, etc. If one class is sold out search for a keyword from that class to see if another is available, for example, "masu" or "Sheehy". Musings and Meanderings

Observations through a car window on the way down to catch the Reimagined: The Artist's Book show - as you drive by Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, CA, odds are you will see marines going through military exercises. You see Blackhawk helicopters bristling with armament of missiles and machine guns and just a few miles down the road you can observe red tail hawks and ospreys bristling with their armaments of talons and beaks. Well you know how I love watching for wild life as long as I am a passenger and I noticed that a red tail hawk hanging out on top of a cell tower (unconvincingly disguised as a tree). I thought it was odd as they are usually circling over their usual spots but that was an inkling on what was to come. A week or 2 later I was trying to make a call and my phone kept hanging up on the call. I couldn't even call my husband but I could send messages. What the heck was happening?

Then I remembered my cell phone provider warning me last year about how my phone would stop working starting in February or March of this year (remember them shutting down the 3G networks?). I had checked with them and my particular model was supposed to keep working. Unfortunately my cell phone provider was wrong. They forget to go through a check with me as to the types of networks that would be supported and I did not think to do so. Needless to say I was slightly annoyed as I wanted to hold on to my phone for as long as possible (and I was saving up my allowance). I wanted to keep my phone form factor at its current size as I was noticing them getting bigger. My hands and fingers are good for folding and not for holding the really big phones (even though they do have a comforting heft).

Well I had to get a new phone and luckily I was able to get one that was ever so slightly smaller, ever so slightly heavier, unlocked, and still fit in my teeny tiny purse phone case and everything. The camera is supposed to be 3x better but I have yet to take a picture with it. I am hoping to be able to take night pictures (at my next Anza Borrego adventure) but I suspect that it will just be a case of pictures occupying more space. So wish me luck in getting to know my new phone and trying to make it look like my old one and to go easy on the eye rolls and sighs of frustration.

See you next month!

  • A list of organizations from where I gather my information - Word document or PDF document - is maintained in my Dropbox account (you do not need to create an account to access this information)

  • A list of my favorite paper places, both online and brick & mortar locations - Word or PDF - ditto in my Dropbox (I am not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with any of the companies listed.
