Book & Paper Arts Calendar Updates - March 1, 2019
Hello everyone,
Apologies for sending out this update so late! We got back from Hawaii and despite having seen almost 20 houses nothing leapt out and grabbed us by the heart! So I left the island feeling a little blue even though we had a great time while we were there (all kinds of people wanted to sell us their houses including a couple of B&Bs!), meet a flight attendant named Jade, and surprisingly the flight attendants are starting to remember Bill and me! Usually when we fly and the flight is more than 2 hours we usually like to give the flight attendants snacks from Trader Joe's or chocolate from See's Candies or Seattle Chocolate and if going to Hawaii we also bring them pens as you need to fill out a the Hawaii Agricultural Declaration form before you land in Hawaii. What was cool about this last trip, other than meeting another Jade, was that we got snacks back in return from the flight attendants - most unexpected and yummy!
Some sad news - Oregon College of Art and Craft will be closing May 2019 after having been in operation for 112 years. Here is the announcement from the Board of Trustees. Also Asheville BookWorks will be closing at the end of March, 2019. If you are in the area here are its last 3 workshops.
If you were trying to sign up for a Madeleine Durham paste paper workshop (I have some of her papers - they are amazing!) with SDBA (do get on the waitlist) she will be teaching at other locations. Please see below in the "All things paper" section!
I wanted to include this accupressure exercise to relieve stress and anxiety. 1. To locate the Hoku spot, gently squeeze your thumb up against your index finger (base of top index finger pad to thumb finger pad as much as possible). The mound that pops up between the base of your fingers is your Hoku spot. 2. Next, pull your fingers apart to form an "L" shape between the thumb and index finger
3. Apply pressure to the Hoku spot with the thumb and index finger of your other hand, gently but deeply massaging the area for at least one minute while breathing deeply through your nose.
Here's hoping you have the opportunity to take a workshop or 2!
