Book & Paper Arts Calendar Updates - June 11, 2018

Hello everyone,

There is some time sensitive info below under "All things internet ..." and "Things to see or do". Also updated the "Housekeeping" area just in case you forward this calendar to anyone in the EU.

Meet with a class mate from when we were in high school in Malaysia. I had not seen him in over 38 years! He moved to Australia and I came here. Went to the Farmer's Market for breakfast and everyone around us loved that we were finally catching up after all these years and were eager to help us get pictures! Lots of laughter as we compared grainy pictures on our phones and stories. Another lovely Sunday afternoon in San Diego attending a popup class (thank you, Judith!) - we inspired each other (going beyond just making the structures), learned new things (loved the popup box) and hopefully will be having more popup adventures in the future!

Just to let you know that it is perfectly OK to visit all the islands of Hawaii including the Big Island. Check out this blog explaining how big the eruption area (now 9.1 sq. miles, as of June 11, vs 4082 sq. miles) is compared to the rest of the island. A more detailed map here. We will be headed back in the fall to resume the hunt.

On January 31 of this year we got up pretty early to see a partial lunar eclipse. It was cold but we did manage to see the partial eclipse along with about a dozen other people. Here is the total lunar eclipse as seen from Australia in 37 seconds.

We usually hear terrible things about the TSA - check out this write up about their Instagram account for a chuckle!

I remember when it would take me a while to decompress at the start of a vacation. Wish I had this article about mastering the art of doing nothing on a beach. I have since learned to get into "vacation mode" right away but a refresher is always good!
