Book & Paper Arts Calendar Updates - Jul 17, 2017
Greetings, everyone, and a warm welcome to Judy, Jean, Peggy, Nancy, Laurel, Susan & MJ who I met at my box making workshop!
I just got back from a desktop organizational box making workshop on Bainbridge Island which is west of Seattle (see the July 10 entry). I have fallen in love with the island and their amazing new 25,000 sq. ft. art facility (http://bainbridgebarn.org/). Where else can you see horses in the streets along with deer, bald eagles, ferries, Seattle in the distance looking like a whole other world and a golden hour that takes your breath away. I won't even mention the numerous artisanal chocolate companies they have up in the Seattle area - my latest craving are the truffles from Seattle Chocolate (http://www.seattlechocolates.com/) where I got a chance to meet the owner, Jean Thompson, on my first visit. Friendly, confident and easy going lady with a great sense of flavor combinations and the truffles are presented with wonderfully colorful wraps like a hard candy. You just want to dig your hands into all those beautiful truffles and mix and match what you put into your bag (you can only do this at the factory store). My favorite truffle is the champagne truffle with an unexpected surprise - it has pop rocks in it! I had a difficult time choosing what I wanted but I managed! Not to worry of you live far away from Seattle they do have their online presence. For those of you in the Seattle area their factory store is in Tukwila. Hope you also have loads of fun at the Sequim Lavender Festival this weekend!
News: There is a call for workshop proposals for the 23rd Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival 2018. Please see the attached files at the bottom of this email for the cover letter and application.
