Book & Paper Arts Calendar Updates - Feb 25, 2017

Dear fellow GCC book and paper art lovers,

Below is a link to a calendar that lists book making, paper engineering, box making, even the making of a tin can forge from all over the world! The majority of the classes are in the US but every once in a while one from the UK, Italy, Switzerland or Australia will snuggle in with the others. I created this calendar for myself to fantasize about workshops I thought I would take, that I really wanted to attend and even ones that at first glance I would never take. It was all about the possibilities - so everything that interested me was included. What I wanted to present here is the potential to spread our wings, stretch our imagination and maybe even be a little uncomfortable in doing something new. I am very pleased to say that based on this calendar one of my fellow San Diego Book Arts members applied for a paper engineering/sculpture workshop in Penland, NC and was accepted. She will be creating and up to her elbows in papers and folds for 2 weeks! That is an extreme example but this calendar has everything from 3-hour, over the weekend, and up to 2 weeks (see uncomfortable above) workshops.

This calendar is purely to share the creative process that I know every one has in them. I do not get any compensation from any of the organizations listed in the calendar. In fact I encourage you to look at other workshops listed for a particular organization to see if anything nudges that creative process or causes excitement. Feel free to share the link with other people you know (or have them send me a request to add them via email). I do periodically add to the calendar and I do send out updates (currently a very manual process). In the same light if you no longer wish to receive the calendar updates let me know and I will remove you.

When you hover your mouse over a calendar entry you will see the name of the workshop, location and the 1st 2 lines of the description. If you click on the entry the description box will contain more information like links to the workshop, the description, sometimes pictures (although I haven't been able to make those stick), how to register, etc. Questions? I would be very happy to answer any questions you may have.

Note: Please see March 6th for registration for Focus on Book Arts (FOBA). Click on the link to see descriptions of the workshops that will happen June 20 - 25 in Forest Grove (30 minutes west of Portland, OR). I attended FOBA in 2015 and it was amazing!!
