Todayβs Word: Glib
Todayβs Mewsing: I attended a webinar from βWriting the Otherβ a few days ago and among the many pearls of wisdom said there, in a passionate speech I wish I remembered more directly, K. Tempest Bradford gave writers the freedom to put their J.O.B.s first, to step back from their writing for a time, to do whatever they need to do to take care of themselves and theirs, and that these things are okay.
Words in high contrast to many said in the writing advice world β here included.
Words that grant peace, agency, Spaciousness.
Donβt let glib words easy-spoke bring you down β even, especially - if they come from here. We are all in our individual spaces and places. We each have our individual experiences, which may or may not intersect with others.
Sometimes, we need to be reminded of that.
Writing is a place of glory, wonder, joy.
It should never be a place of shame.
Make your choices consciously β donβt let time and tide and the busywork of life steal your words from you β and be strong and confident enough to make those choices.
Whatever they may be.
Whatever they may mean for your writing.

Both Mike and I heartily recommend βWriting the Otherβ as a resource for writers to learn how to respectfully write characters who are different from themselves.
Check them out at the link below. (Not an affiliate link. The only thing we receive from your clicking through is the satisfaction of helping to spread the word about an amazing resource.)
